“Every man who loves peace, every man who loves his country, every man who loves liberty ought to have it ever before his eyes that he may cherish in his heart a due attachment to the Union of America and be able to set a due value on the means of preserving it.” – James Madison, Federalist No. 41
America, in its right, is making a decision. The people are electing a person who is saying the right things the wrong way and does not have the record to do what he says he will do. While it is Constitutionally provided that we be able to make a choice, we are neglecting what James Madison describes in Federalist No. 41. By electing the wrong person the United States is neglecting to care for the future of America.
I have listed in the past the reasons why certain candidates should not be elected President. I won’t go over those again, because a lot of times people refuse to listen to the facts. But I will say this. In order to preserve our union, we must avoid damaging it. While voting is a means of preserving our union, putting someone in office who promises to do something but is not able to prove that he can do it is dangerous. His policy has no value and his ideas have no substance. It is possible to say what people want to hear without it being said sincerely just as music can sound beautiful even though the musician is not the greatest person.
We must preserve what our Founding Fathers have given us. By neglecting the very founding document of our nation, the only reason you are still free today and the only reason any of us can go to church, attend college, run for office, and a whole list of other rights and liberties, we are damning this nation to its demise. It has happened before, and we better believe it can happen again. Rome was once the greatest nation on earth. Where are they now? Because people in Rome neglected to care for Rome but instead only cared for themselves, Rome was destroyed from within its own capital.
Preserve our union. Abraham Lincoln once said, “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” We cannot let this happen. We cannot lose our freedoms. John Adams said that “Liberty once lost is lost forever.“ The men that founded and preserved this country knew that if freedom is lost freedom is gone. No matter what happens next or who is elected, we must heed the warning George Washington gave us.
“Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism.”
